My work with others mirrors my own personal practices–an integrated mix of modalities that I have found to be most supportive for my own healing and growth.
I began my practice in Northampton in 1992 as a Licensed Massage Therapist. At that time, I also began practicing yoga and meditation– I was discovering what would be a lifelong exploration of body and mind awareness. I found ways to work with patterns of thoughts and emotions that allowed me to discover more freedom in my mind and body, and in my relationships, including the most important one–with myself.
In 2000, I earned a Master’s degree and a Massachusetts License in Acupuncture, as acupuncture was the perfect integration of my interests in mind, body and spirit, addressing the human being as a whole. Although I’m not currently practicing acupuncture, this integrated view of the whole being informs my approach working with clients. How you are sleeping, eating, relating to family, to your work, feeling about your body and health are all relevant to your well being.
In October, 2008, I attended The School for The Work of Byron Katie, after which I began to do Inquiry with clients. (See counseling for more on Inquiry.) I love facilitating Inquiry; It is unceasingly inspiring to witness someone finding their own answers and returning to a state of freedom.
In 2015, I enrolled in a 2 1/2 year meditation program called The Three Doors. The teachings in this program are rooted in the Dzogchen tradition of Bon Buddhism, and emphasize the power of meditation for self-discovery, personal transformation, and benefitting others. After completion of this program, I began to lead guided mindfulness classes. Then in 2019, I discovered the Mindful Self-Compassion program, which was a perfect addition to my personal 3 Doors practice– MSC intensifies the warmth already present within spacious awareness. My personal practice was so enhanced by this new material that I went on to complete MSC Teacher Training in January 2020.
I am currently guiding Mindful Self-Compassion and Three Doors practice groups on zoom. Please contact me for more information about these groups––all are welcome.
